Drink Your Veggies: Vitameatavegamin Cocktail

vitameatavegamin

Vitameatavegamin was a fictions health tonic that Lucy drank on the iconic “Lucy Does a TV Commercial“. This is arguably one of the most famous episodes of this classic TV show. It was an alcoholic elixir containing vitamins, meat, vegetables, and minerals. So in honor of that, pour yourself a tall glass of Vitameatavegamin and drink in the golden goodness.

Vitameatavegamin
2 oz Mezcal (El Buho)
4 oz Carrot Orange Juice*
1/4 oz Lemon Juice
2 oz Ginger Beer

Directions: Combine the first three ingredients in a ice filled Collins glass. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a lemon wheel.

*Carrot Orange Juice: if you don’t have a juicer you can use a high quality store bought juice, like those by Bolthouse Farms. Otherwise try this delicious homemade version. You can also try different varieties of carrots for subtle flavor variations.
3 medium size carrots (about 1lb)
2 oranges
1 inch cube of ginger

Directions: Peel the oranges. In a juicer add the oranges, ginger, and the carrots. Continue to push the fruit through the juicer and then refrigerate.

  1. Who doesn’t love Lucy and this episode! Thanks for bringing back happy memories and an idea for a drink during a movie night with Lucy reruns.
